Sebastian Dovey

Managing Partner

Sebastian focuses on the execution and development of strategy recommendations for Scorpio Partnership. He has completed assignments around the globe for private banks, global banks, asset managers, family offices, technology firms, service providers, aggregators and start-up wealth management initiatives. He is also currently involved in creating and building education-based solutions for a number of clients.

He is a lecturer at The Swiss Finance Institute (formerly the Swiss Banking School) for its executive MBA programme, speaking on family offices and wealth management. He is also a regular commentator on the wealth management industry in the press and at conferences and academies.

He has chaired and presented leading industry events in Asia, Europe and the United States. He serves on the editorial board of WealthBriefing. He produces regular columns in the Financial Times business publication Private Wealth Management, and in Wealth Management Supplement, Spear's wealth management publication for UHNWs.

Sebastian’s industry views have been broadcast on Bloomberg TV and CNBC and published in several leading industry journals, and publications that include:

Sebastian has been an advisory board member of the Wealth Congress since 2003. He is also the creator and faculty director of the International Wealth Management Academy developed with the Financial Times Group.

Before establishing Scorpio Partnership, Sebastian was the London-based managing editor of Global Private Banking, an Institutional Investor trade publication covering international wealth management. He joined in 1995 in Hong Kong to assist with the launch of Global Private Banking in Asia, having previously been with Euromoney.

Sebastian holds a first class BA (Hons.) degree in Modern History from University College London and was awarded an MSc (Econ.) with distinction from the London School of Economics.

Catherine Tillotson

Managing Partner, Head of Research

Catherine heads Scorpio Partnership’s research team, overseeing all research projects. Her key focus is on qualitative client research, which is undertaken with HNW clients, family offices, private banks and key industry participants internationally. She also oversees intermediary research, market research and competitor profiling and benchmarking studies.

Catherine is a co-founder of Scorpio Partnership. Before establishing the firm with Sebastian in 1998 she was a senior journalist, then managing editor, with Waters Information Services and Institutional Investor. She was responsible for global coverage of wealth management, capital markets and banking operations.

Catherine holds a MA (Hons.) degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and was awarded a Diploma in Periodical Journalism from City University.

Alejandro Kerschen

Partner

As a partner at Scorpio Partnership since 2003, Alejandro focuses on alternative investments and business development.

Alejandro is also the founder and managing partner of Atlantic Alliance Ltd, a London-based FSA-authorised and regulated investment advisory firm. He was previously a Managing Director of SEI Investments, one of the world's largest asset management outsourcing businesses, holding a number of senior positions. He was ultimately responsible for developing European partnerships between SEI and financial institutions. Prior to SEI, he held senior positions at Paribas, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan in their emerging markets sectors and has worked widely across Europe, the US and Latin America.

Alejandro holds a degree in Economics from Universidad Catolica Argentina and an MSc in Finance from London Business School.

Steffianna Major

Senior Associate

Steffi's focus at Scorpio Partnership includes technology for wealth management and strategy for intermediary business development and relationship management. She has an interest in assisting wealth management firms in marketing effectively to women and other niche groups.

She also participates in conducting primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research for market, strategic and competitive analysis. She contributes to Scorpio Partnership's newsletter Ultra.

Before joining Scorpio, Steffi worked in software and hardware technology firms for eight years, starting as a technical author and eventually moving into marketing/sales. She spent four years with Sun Microsystems, where she managed global channel partner programmes for the mid-range and high end server line of products. She worked with systems integrators, including PwC, CapGemini, Accenture, Fujitsu and EDS across healthcare, education, FMCG, telecoms, banking and financial services sectors.

Steffi will soon participate in graduation exercises at Edinburgh Business School (Heriot Watt University) to accept her MBA.

Stephen Wall

Senior Associate

Stephen conducts both primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research for market, strategic and competitor analysis. His areas of specialisation include offshore jurisdictions and wealth management operational strategies. He also works on Scorpio Partnership's Ultra, its strategic intelligence newsletter, and Private Banking Benchmark, its analysis and global ranking report on the top international private banks and high-net-worth wealth managers.

Before joining Scorpio, Stephen worked for over three years as a researcher/writer focusing on business transactions and legal benchmark reports for Globe Business Publishing, an independent legal publisher in London. Before that, he worked for two years as a researcher within Institutional Investor's newsletters division in London, covering the international search and selection market of investment management firms.

Stephen has a BA (Hons.) degree in Politics from the University of Essex.

Graham Harvey

Senior Associate

Graham conducts both primary and secondary quantitative and qualitative research in wealth management at Scorpio Partnership.

His recent work has focused on the needs of global family offices and analysis of the global private banking industry. He also writes for Scorpio Partnership's Ultra, its market leading strategic intelligence newsletter, and the Private Banking Benchmark, its unique analysis and ranking of the top international private banks and high-net-worth wealth managers.

Before joining Scorpio Partnership Graham worked for the British government developing economic models. He has lived in the Netherlands, Austria and Belgium.

Graham holds a BA (Hons.) in Geography from University College London. In 2006 he was awarded a MSc. (Hons.) in Politics and Economics by St. Antony's College, University of Oxford.

Karl von Bezing

Senior Associate

Karl conducts both primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research for market, strategic and competitor analysis. He also works on Scorpio Partnership's Ultra, its strategic intelligence newsletter. Before joining Scorpio Karl worked as a project analyst for a boutique strategy and management consulting firm focusing on market entry, corporate strategy, market analysis and competitive strategy for Fortune 500 clients.

Prior to this he had worked for two years as a researcher at Veredus Executive Resourcing, formerly PricewaterhouseCoopers Executive Search & Selection and Interim Management, across various routes to market with particular emphasis on Private Sector and Regeneration

Karl holds a BA (Hons.) in Philosophy (Cum Laude) from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa). Karl also holds Unit One - UK Regulation and Markets of the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is writing the Unit Two - Investment Practice exam shortly.

Sharjil Kamal

Associate

Sharjil’s work focuses on the market sizing and market research for international private banks and wealth management firms as well as providing support for consulting projects.

He works on the analysis and breakdown of Scorpio's Private Banking Benchmark, the global ranking report on the top international private banks and high-net-worth wealth managers and is actively involved in the long-term development of the study. Furthermore, he contributes to Scorpio Partnership's newsletter Ultra.

Before joining Scorpio Sharjil had worked in China for both Hebei Normal University and the China Banking & Regulatory Commission as an English Teacher, prior to this he worked at the Financial Services Authority in London.

Sharjil holds a BSc (Hons.) degree in Management Sciences from the London School of Economics & Political Science.

Caroline Burkart

Senior Project Consultant

Caroline is a senior project consultant with Scorpio Partnership. Caroline is responsible for the execution of assignments that draw on her detailed market and business management expertise. Most recently Caroline has been involved in solutions surrounding the development of a private investment bank , a review of multi management offerings in private banking as well as an assessment of asset allocation issues for family wealth in the field of philanthropy.

Formerly a senior private banker with Credit Suisse in London, Caroline has comprehensive business management experience gained as Head of International Private Clients in the London office and has an in depth knowledge of the international private banking environment. Prior to this, Caroline gained specialist expertise in the Middle East market as Head of Middle East private clients. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Caroline lived and worked in the Middle East.

Stewart Prosser

Senior Project Consultant

Stewart is a senior project consultant with Scorpio Partnership. His roles on assignments are concentrated on strategic communications, media relations, employee communications, investor relations and marketing communications.

Prior to joining Scorpio in 2006, his 20-year career has encompassed the management of corporate and financial communications strategies and functions in support of the brand, reputation and business objectives of multinational blue-chip public companies, including Lehman Brothers, AXA, The Royal Bank of Scotland’s Corporate and Institutional businesses, and The Chase Manhattan Bank.

Stewart is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, a former Chairman of its Corporate and Financial Group, and past member of its governing council. He speaks on brand building and communications issues. He has a proven track record in creating and implementing successful communications strategies that help businesses achieve their objectives.

Tim Parkes

Senior Project Consultant

Tim is a senior project consultant with Scorpio Partnership. His experience is directly relevant to assignments in the field of offshore financial services. Tim also brings to projects a strong management background and has been involved in various strategic turnarounds during the course of his career.

Prior to becoming a senior project consultant, Tim was Managing Director of the International Personal and Premier and Barclays Private Clients International Limited businesses in Barclays Wealth. There, over a career spanning two decades, he became a commercial business leader with board level experience, with extensive performance and change management skills, encompassing offshore and international banking, wealth management, retail banking and mortgages. This experience was amassed across nine offshore jurisdictions.

Kathryn McCarthy

Senior Project Consultant

Kathryn McCarthy has over 20 years experience in advising wealthy families and managing family offices and other entities. She is currently a consultant to several families and family offices. She is also a director of the Rockefeller Trust Company and serves on its audit and trust Committees. Furthermore, Kathryn serves on several private family investment committees, is on the board of directors of a family office and acts as a strategic advisor and/or trustee to several family groups.

Previously, Kathryn was a Managing Director of Rockefeller & Co., Inc., a member of the Management Committee and the Director of Client Advisory Services.

She was also the founding President of Marujupu, LLC - the family office of the Sulzberger Family (The New York Times Company) and started their multigenerational family office. She became the Manager of the Sulzberger Foundation.

Kathryn holds a B.A. from Rosemont College and earned her M.B.A. in finance from New York University's Graduate School of Business Administration. She completed her education at New York Law School where she received her J.D. with honors.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of SEI Investments, a public company (NASDAQ) whose business is investment technology and asset management and serves on the Audit and Compensation Committees.

Kathryn's not for profit activities include serving as a Trustee of the Greenacre Foundation and as a member of the Professional Advisors Council of Lincoln Center.

Geoff Marsh

Project Consultant

Geoff is an international trainer and presenter and frequently works outside the UK. He has been involved with conferences and seminars for a range of organisations including Lloyds Bank International Private Banking, Rohm & Haas, Serono Pharmaceuticals, Union Bancaire Privée and Unichem.

Geoff started his career as an actor before becoming a presenter in 1986 but in the last ten years has gained his reputation in the field of private banking. He is a visiting lecturer on the Swiss Banking School's International Wealth Management Executive MBA programme and has also worked with the Financial Times on their Wealth Management Academy Series. Recently he was a guest lecturer on the Master of Science in Wealth Management Programme for the University of Singapore.

A presenter and after-dinner speaker, with his own weekly radio show, Geoff has produced and starred in training videos and has also had a series of training related books published. A graduate of the University of Loughborough, Geoff is a full member of the actor's union Equity and has been a professional actor on stage and television.

Nicholas Haynes

Project Consultant

Nicholas Haynes is a project consultant with Scorpio Partnership. He has spent more than 20 years in wealth management holding senior positions at Kleinwort Benson in London, Switzerland, Germany, Bahrain and Hong Kong. These have included working both as head of asset and client management and as general manager of Banque Kleinwort Benson, Geneva. Subsequently, Nicholas was head of private portfolio management and chief operating officer for the domestic private client business of Kleinwort Benson Private Bank in London, before becoming head of Dresdner Private Banking, London. Prior to setting up Eyre & Lankester he was head of private banking at Arab Bank in London .

Nicholas has a sound background in asset management and broad experience of the major traditional and alternative asset classes.

Nicholas holds a Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Instutite of Certified Accountants. He is also currently studying for the Certificate in Trustee Knowledge and Understanding with the National Association of Pension Funds.
